A tapered cone of walnut wood under a natural linen shade, 30cm tall. Switched off it is a quiet wooden object on a shelf; switched on, the linen glows softly and the walnut takes on a deep red-brown.
The cone base is the whole point: solid, heavy enough not to tip, and tapered so it takes up less room on a bedside table than a conventional round lamp. The linen shade diffuses the bulb into a warm, even glow with no hotspot, and the touch switch on the base cycles through three Color temperatures, from a whiter light for reading to a warm evening tone. Switch off and let it cool before cleaning. Dust the shade with a soft brush or a vacuum on low. Wipe natural fibers and wood with a dry cloth; avoid water and sprays.
