A sphere of opal glass held off the wall by a round brass plate. The simplest Bauhaus idea, a ball of light on a disc, and it has not needed changing since. Switched on, the whole globe glows and lights the wall around it.
Two sizes. The 15cm globe is for pairs: one each side of a bed, a mirror or a doorway. The 20cm globe works alone on a hallway or stair wall. The brass plate is 10cm and screws to a standard wall box; the glass unscrews for the bulb. It takes one E27 bulb, line power wired. The opal glass hides the bulb entirely, so there is no glare at eye level.

E27 socket. E27 is the European screw base; US E26 bulbs are 1 mm narrower and physically fit, but for the best contact use an E27 LED bulb rated for 120 V. For a warm, residential glow, choose a 2700K bulb.
Switch off and let it cool before cleaning. Clean glass with a soft cloth and a little glass cleaner, sprayed on the cloth, never on the fixture. Wipe metal parts with a dry microfiber cloth; no abrasives.
